Monsoon in Greater Noida is a time of extreme humidity. While the rain is a relief from the heat, the constant dampness leads to a surge in fungal infections (Tinea), bacterial folliculitis, and "maskne" or friction-related breakouts. During these months, my focus shifts from hydration to "Hygiene and Breathability." We need to keep your skin dry and your pores clear while fighting off opportunistic microbes.

The Monsoon Microbe Surge

Humidity causes the skin to swell slightly, trapping more oil and sweat in the pores. Additionally, damp clothes and shoes facilitate the rapid growth of fungus on the skin surface.

Common Monsoon Skin issues:

  • Fungal Infections (Ringworm): Itchy, circular red patches in sweat-prone areas.
  • Bacterial Folliculitis: Small, pus-filled bumps around hair follicles.
  • Monsoon Acne: Increase in blackheads and whiteheads due to high humidity.
  • Scalp Issues: Sticky dandruff and scalp itching due to damp hair.

Monsoon Routine Switches

Adapting your care for a humid environment:

Product Category Monsoon Switch Focus
Cleanser Antibacterial / Salicylic Wash Kills microbes & controls oil
Sunscreen Ultra-light Fluid / Water-based Non-comedogenic (won't clog)
Hair Care Antifungal / Clarifying Shampoo Keeps scalp dry & fungus-free
Body Care Antifungal dusting powders Keeping skin folds dry
Clinical Advice

Dr. Manali's Advice

The most important monsoon tip: DRY YOUR FEET! Many patients ignore their feet after getting caught in the rain, which leads to painful "Athlete's Foot" or fungal nail infections. Use a clean towel to dry between the toes immediately. Also, avoid wearing wet clothes or socks for even an hour—fungus loves damp fabric against the skin. My FAVORITE tip: If you have oily skin, skip your thick night cream in monsoon and switch to a light Niacinamide serum instead to keep the oil in check.

Monsoon FAQ

Facts for the humid season.

Can I use OTC antifungal creams for a monsoon rash?

Be very careful. Many Over-The-Counter (OTC) creams contain strong steroids which "mask" the fungus, making it much harder to treat later. Always get a dermatologist-prescribed antifungal.

Do I need sunscreen if it's cloudy?

Yes. 80% of UV rays pass through clouds. Even on a dark, rainy day in Greater Noida, your skin is still being exposed to aging UVA rays.
