Understanding Deep Infections & Inflammation
Treating these conditions early is the key to preventing deep tissue damage and the formation of sinus tracts (tunnels under the skin).
1. Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS)
HS is a chronic, auto-inflammatory disease affecting the hair follicles near sweat glands, most commonly in the armpits, groin, under the breasts, and buttocks.
- The Progression: It starts as a painful, hard lump that looks like a large pimple or boil. Over weeks, it fills with pus, ruptures, and heals with a thick scar.
- The Danger: Without medical treatment, the disease progresses. The boils connect under the skin, forming painful "tunnels" (sinus tracts) that constantly leak fluid and pus. It is intensely painful and severely impacts quality of life.
2. Impetigo
Impetigo is a highly contagious superficial bacterial infection (usually caused by Staph or Strep bacteria). It frequently affects infants and children, especially around the nose and mouth.
- Key Symptoms: It typically starts as a red sore that quickly bursts, leaving a characteristic "honey-colored crust." It spreads rapidly if the child scratches the sore and touches other parts of the body.

Advanced Medical Management
We provide compassionate, judgment-free care. Our goal is to rapidly reduce your pain and stop the progression of the disease.
| Condition | Clinical Treatment Plan |
|---|---|
| Hidradenitis Suppurativa (Mild to Moderate) | Long-term oral antibiotics (to reduce inflammation, not just kill bacteria), topical Clindamycin, and specific antibacterial washes (Chlorhexidine). |
| Hidradenitis Suppurativa (Severe/Flare-ups) | Intralesional corticosteroid injections directly into the painful boil for rapid relief. In advanced cases, biologic therapies (immune-modulators) may be discussed. |
| Impetigo (Honey-Crusted Sores) | Prescription topical antibiotic ointments (Mupirocin). For widespread infections, a short course of oral antibiotics is prescribed to clear it rapidly and prevent spreading to others. |
Dr. Manali's Advice
"There is a massive stigma surrounding Hidradenitis Suppurativa because patients mistakenly believe it is caused by poor hygiene. IT IS NOT. It is a legitimate auto-inflammatory disease. Please do not suffer in silence or be embarrassed to seek help. We have highly effective medical protocols that can dramatically improve your quality of life."
