Identifying Your Facial Growths
Accurate diagnosis is the first step. Attempting to squeeze or pop these growths at home will only result in severe inflammation, scarring, and permanent dark spots.
1. Milia (Keratin Cysts)
Milia look like tiny, hard, white pearls trapped under the skin, most commonly found around the eyes and on the upper cheeks.
- What they are: Dead skin cells (keratin) that became trapped under the surface instead of naturally exfoliating off.
- Causes: Heavy eye creams, sun damage, or genetics. They have no "opening" to the surface, which is why they cannot be popped.
2. Syringomas (Sweat Gland Tumors)
These appear as small, flesh-colored or yellowish bumps, typically clustering symmetrically under both eyes.
- What they are: Completely benign (non-cancerous) overgrowths of eccrine sweat ducts.
- The Challenge: They are deeper in the skin than Milia and require precise medical techniques to remove without leaving a depressed scar.
3. Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra (DPN)
DPNs are small, dark brown or black bumps that look like tiny moles, usually found on the cheeks, temples, and neck. They are very common in darker skin types.

Advanced Scarless Removal
Our clinic uses ultra-precise techniques to safely ablate these growths without damaging the surrounding tissue, ensuring a rapid, scar-free recovery.
| Growth Type | Medical Removal Procedure |
|---|---|
| Milia | Medical Extraction: A sterile microscopic needle is used to create a tiny opening, and the hard keratin pearl is safely expressed out. Heals in 1-2 days. |
| Syringomas | Radiofrequency (RF) Ablation or CO2 Laser: We use precise thermal energy to vaporize the deep sweat gland tissue. Requires a few days of downtime for tiny scabs to fall off. |
| DPN | RF Electrocautery: The tiny dark growths are touched with an ultra-fine RF tip. They turn into tiny crusts and naturally fall off after 5-7 days, revealing clear skin underneath. |
Dr. Manali's Advice
"The skin around the eyes is the thinnest and most delicate on your entire body. Never try to extract Milia or Syringomas at home with a pin or tweezers. This frequently leads to severe bacterial infections, permanent indented scarring, or hyperpigmentation. A quick 15-minute clinical procedure is entirely painless (we use a numbing cream) and guarantees a flawless result."
